Abergele-Colwyn Bay... Football match abandoned due to dog foul on pitch!

Eww, not nice at all! All dogs should be banned from any sports fields or play areas. A RUGBY MATCH between Abergele and Colwyn Bay was abandoned at the weekend due to an "endless amount of dog foul" being discovered on the pitch.

The Clwb Rygbi Abergele-Clwb Rygbi Bae Colwyn game on December 14 was abandoned at the last minute, after a considerable amount of dog foul was found on Abergele's home pitch at Parc Pentre Mawr.

More than 35 players had already turned up ready to play, along with referees, families and supporters from both clubs.

In a statement, the home side said it was an "age old problem", and slammed the state of the pitch as "unacceptable".Describing the dog foul abandonment as a "situation that would be avoided", the club apologised to those who had made their way to the game.

A spokesperson for Clwb Rygbi Abergele said: "Unfortunately due to the irresponsible nature of certain dog owners in our small community, our First XV fixture was today postponed at short notice due to an endless amount of dog foul being discovered on the Sea Road Rugby Pitch - in short, this is simply not acceptable on any front.

"Grassroots sports play a key factor in many peoples lives, to take that away from a collective due to not clearing up after a commitment you made in getting a dog is just unacceptable.

"Over 35+ male players, a female referee, travelling families and friends, turned up to Parc Pentre Mawr this afternoon for the scheduled fixture against Clwb Rygbi Bae Colwyn, given the sheer volume of dog foul on the pitch, the referee, rightly, made a call to pull the fixture, causing disbelief to all involved - we can only apologise to all players, families and friends for the inconvenience which was sadly, out of our control.

"An age old problem across multiple sports. Parc Pentre Mawr boasts an incredible space for all to enjoy, as a community Club, we plead with you to stay clear of the marked sports pitches with your four legged family member to prevent such occurrences taking place.

"Again, apologies to our official for today and travelling Clwb Rygbi Bae Colwyn squad, along with friends and family for the inconvenience this has caused, as well, of course, to our own players and beyond."
