A Reader Submission...Conwy County Council Watch re Abergele Councillor!

Thank you to GW for requesting this from the CCCW Facebook site, this article does make total sense to a lot of people and questions are continually being raised about the motives and the conduct of a certain Councillor, who himself claimed he was being persecuted, but his actions towards Gwrych Castle appear to tell a very different story! I think the Ombudsman needs to investigate all of this Councillor's actions and we will complete a historical timeline and send it to them. A.W. Just read the post from Gerald Jones regarding the Abergele councillor, a landowner, and member of Conwy`s licensing and planning committee, who has applied to have 4 rights of way designated over land belonging to Gwrych Castle.

Frankly, I am astounded that someone in a privileged position, but perhaps with some sort of axe to grind, apparently is attempting to use his position to influence the lawful functions of a civic body.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Gwrych Castle and the land abutting and adjoining thereby, is PRIVATELY owned, and as such is able to decide when and whom may access their property.
A similar situation occurred in the recent past, when local dog walkers decided that they were no longer content with promenading along the length of the road adjoining Abergele Golf Club (which -by the way- is also a Private road) and continuing up to the castle, but preferred to walk on the course itself, accompanied by their animals (sometimes off the lead) and would allow them to do what dogs do wherever and whenever the urge occurred. Not content with this trespass of PRIVATE land, they then decided that it would be more convenient to access their walking areas through the entrance to the club, and down the path adjacent to the first tee, and thereby onto the course. Now not only was this a gross trespass of private property but allowing their animals to defecate on the land constituted a real danger to golfers and more particularly to Junior golfers, because of the risk of Toxicara, which can cause severe illness and blindness. This somewhat lengthy example serves to make the point that there are no lengths that some people will not stoop to, to attain what they mistakenly perceive as their rights. Why stop at Gwrych Castle or Abergele Golf Club land, when there are hundreds of Golf Courses in our green and pleasant land, to claim roaming rights over, and so easy to do when people who have got themselves into positions of power, are only too pleased to wield their privileged positions. We need to be more vigilant to whom we are giving our votes, especially when that vote may begin detrimentally to influence our lives and liberties.

  1. Woody is to blame for all of this, he needs to be removed from being a Councillor
