Llandudno...‘Appalling’ man attacked his ex in her home!

What a vile human being! But what a very short sentence, he will serve about 11 months!

A MAN from Llandudno Junction who repeatedly assaulted his former partner following a breakdown in their relationship has been released from custody.

Brooklyn Cole, 20, of Woodlands, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, suspended for the same time period, at Caernarfon Crown Court today (November 9).

He had been remanded in custody since his last arrest, and had admitted two counts of criminal damage to property, and charges of threatening to disclose private images and assault.

Prosecuting, Matthew Dunford told the court that, in December 2021, Cole and the victim began a relationship, but that this later became “clearly volatile”, and was ended by her on February 24.

On February 27, she and Cole discussed him removing his belongings from her home, telling him he could visit later in the day when her mother would be there.

Cole ignored her, though, and went to the home immediately, kicking her door while on the phone to her upon his arrival.

When the victim arrived back at her home later, she found its front door hanging off its hinges, as well as noticing that Cole had not removed his belongings.

On March 1, Cole sent the victim a number of voice messages, including threatening to disclose pictures/videos of her, of a sexual nature, on social media.

He was arrested later that day, giving no comment in a police interview, before being bailed on the condition that he did not contact her.

At about 4am on April 16, the victim was at home with a male friend when she heard “banging”, before she saw Cole come through the front door of the property.

Cole shouted at her friend to leave, and after he did so, the defendant pushed the victim on to a bed, before delivered numerous blows to her heard using “full force”.

The victim remembered next being in the bathroom, where Cole punched her repeatedly to her face and jaw, splitting her lip open.

He eventually left, but the next day, the victim said she noticed the glass to the communal front door of her property was broken; it appeared that this was how Cole had gained entry.

She had suffered bruising on the right of her jaw and her right leg, while she also sustained a split and swollen lip, and a black eye.

Cole was re-arrested on April 26, and again gave no comment when interviewed.

The victim said she does not “recognise who I am” since this incident, and is “terrified of living”.

“I don’t understand what he wants from me,” she added.

Defending, James Coutts said Cole had used his time on remand “productively”, and had been described as being “polite and respectful” to others, including staff, on his prison wing.

He has accepted the relationship has ended and wants no contact with the victim anymore.

Cole, who plans to move to Manchester, was said to have a “good work ethic”, and to have “no intention of repeating” his first experience of custody.

Sentencing, Judge Timothy Petts told Cole that his behavior was “appalling”, and that the threat of prison is still “hanging over” him.

“You should be ashamed for yourself,” he said, but added that he deemed Cole to have a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.

Judge Petts issued a 10-year restraining order to Cole, in order to give the victim “the protection which she’s entitled to”.

Cole will also complete 20 days’ of rehabilitation activity and a 35-session program, and will pay £750 in compensation to the victim.
