Llandudno...Dispersal order to be enforced 10 youth arrests

There is something very worrying happening in Llandudno, attacks with broken glass, assaulting children by gangs of delinquents, and breaking into hotels, and that's just some of the issues.

Something needs to be done urgently or it will end up like Wrexham

A 48-hour dispersal order will be enforced in Llandudno this weekend, after multiple youth arrests in the area in the last two days.

Recent incidents of anti-social behaviour in Llandudno have resulted in 10 youths being arrested for several offences.

With the popular Victorian Extravaganza in mind, which begins on Saturday, North Wales Police has implemented a dispersal order.

The order gives officers the power to disperse a group of people who are causing or are likely to cause a nuisance, harassment, distress, or public safety concern.

Failure to comply with the order, or returning to the Dispersal Area may result in police returning young people under 16 to their homes.

Should adults fail to comply, this could be treated as an offence and they could be convicted, resulting in a fine or term in prison of up to three months.

The dispersal order will occur at 1pm tomorrow (April 29) and last until 1pm on Monday (March 1).

A statement from District Inspector Steve Pawson said: "In response to the recent incidents of Anti-social behaviour, over the last 48 hours, 10 youths have been arrested for several different offences across the West Conwy District.

"These have involved arrests for offences against persons, public order offences and burglary.

"They are all live investigations, so I am not able to provide further details, however, I want to reassure the community that anti-social behaviour and criminal offending will continue to be dealt with proportionately and robustly.

"I would encourage parents and carers to play their part, and ensure they know where their young people are.

"With recent incidents in mind, your local team will be visibly patrolling in Llandudno this weekend when we will once again welcome the Victorian Extravaganza.

"To ensure this enjoyable, family-friendly event is not marred by a tiny fraction of our community, I have authorised the implementation of a Dispersal Order, covering the areas marked on the map.

  1. These children need to be locked away for a little while so that they cannot harm the public.
