Abergele ...Is Campsite & Allotment Application, The Future Plan for A Brownfield Site For Housing?

United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, the term 'brownfield' is used as a synonym to previously developed land in English PLANNING POLICY.
PDL is "Land which is or was occupied by a permanent structure, including the curtilage of the developed land (although it should not be assumed that the whole of the curtilage should be developed) and any associated fixed surface infrastructure. This excludes:

Land which is or was occupied by a permanent structure, including the curtilage of the developed land (although it should not be assumed that the whole of the curtilage should be developed) and any associated fixed surface infrastructure. This excludes:

  • land that is or has been occupied by agricultural or forestry buildings;
  • land that has been developed for minerals extraction (mining) or waste disposal by landfill purposes where provision for restoration has been made through development control procedures;
  • land in built-up areas such as private residential gardens, parks, recreation grounds and allotments; and
  • land that was previously developed but where the remains of the permanent structure or fixed surface structure have blended into the landscape in the process of time."
  • From wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownfield_land
Notice the statement (occupied by a permanent structure) so this only has to be a shower block etc and then it moves from a greenfield site, very clever.
So if a project failed out comes the application for housing and thus it is now a brownfield site that failed to last as a business.
This little chestnut is well know, of course we are not saying that Cllr Woods would do such a thing, but people are very concerned in the town
This article ran on the Daily Post and some of the comments are very clear from community members!

I think Woodes and his cronies will have a plan that when the allotments fail and the campsite, they will then have two brownfield sites all ready for housing, and thus will make a fortune, especially as Cllr Alan hunter who is chair of planning and wood's best friend, will ensure it all goes through smoothly!

No business sense in this, pitch with or without electricity, simple, with, you have to pay. Something behind all this.

The celeb show saved Manorafon farm park during covid like Abergele golf club. They'd have sunk and thanks to Gwrych Castle they got the golf club out of a mountain of sinking debt and we must not forget that. Manorafon and the Golf club would have suffered greatly but for Gwrych Castle. The problem they have is a rogue Councillor Andrew Wood who broke the law with the zoom performance on live Conwy Council business and he's been caught red handed. Now his disrepectful behaviour continues with bulldozing a wall that is Listed and he did it with out special Permission. Andrew Wood's has an ex employee Alan Hunter Mayor of Abergele and he's the Chair of Planning for Conwy County Council. So Wood and Hunter are working together and probably the leader McCoubrey Crook who is in their circle of buddies covering for each other. Paul Luckock I hope will be very different than these people. I voted for Wood and now regret it last year he's taking the county down. I can't afford Manorafon either my grandkids are no longer supporting anything they do due to their greed. Wood is a bad business partner and can't speak the truth look at his lies again. He says he had permission off CADW to destroy the wall. CADW says he's commited a Criminal Offence. *(Laughably to be investigate by the Planning Commitee who are all his buddies and Hunter the Chair of Planning. It's going to be a FIX.) Wood and Hunter should go and McCoubrey as a weak Leader should not be there either.

Yes they forget what saved them and they are all in it for themselves, all working together certainly not serving the community that elected them, a bunch of corrupt councillors.

Just read my crystal ball Julie & Will owners of the farm are very good friends with Andy Woods are going into partnership with him, load of bull re the electricity issue. His plot of land is a smoke screen, unfortunately.

Hey andy remember our younger days dogging up the Castle in the dark, snorting the white stuff good job there were no County Lines then

Sorry I voted you in again

An old pal

Many say Wood was active in the destruction of Gwrych as a young biker I'm sure some bikers will come forward and of course he's probably got some affected problems due to the white stuff. It was rife up there before the castle trust took this on and it's going to help a lot with the tourist economy and the man is a bad example to those coming up in the ranks with his adult behaviour. Never again will I vote for Hunter and Wood as I did last year. McCoubrey. No way. They are in their own cult.

A person like that won't ever change. Destructive up there as many know when he was a young biker doing his worst and back now in his council hat to incite others to do the same. It's possible there is something up with him he may need to get tests to check if his brain is ok as this behaviour is not normal.

Be a housing estate soon

Something very strange going on here ??? Energy price high therefore cost of pitch goes higher accordingly...simple I would have thought...no effect on the owners...just customers who may be prepared to pay out of personal choice....ssssstrange..???

Yes my thoughts as well

I thinking the same, it's funny how no other sites haven't closed ?? People pay to be there ??? May be only open in summer months than having seasonal pitches??...do no hookup pitches ? There's alot of campers don't always need electric ?? Still could get revenue ?

My thoughts as well something definitely going on here.

It's a scam and if Andrew Wood is connected it's not going to end well and you can expect a disaster with ruination for the region.

A very greedy family and now they have the likes of Andrew Wood in tow with the Chair of Planning and the Leader of Conwy County Council. All very suspect and very covert.

Yes it does, strange things going on down there ????????

 What do you think of it all? Please let us know.

For the record, I think the council should place a clause in the planning that if the campsite or allotments fail, they are put back as agricultural land.

  5. It has been known that prior to meetings the team including head of planning and head of the council send out memos instructing the planning team how to vote, I have seen such a memo!
