It really is comedy hour time at the courts these days! So someone states that they were bullied into drug dealing and everyone believes them!
No opportunity at any time to go to the police for help, just to carry on dealing, and of course the courts lap it up!
I think I might murder my husband and say that I was (Frightened and naïve) and bullied into killing him and I would get a cushy sentence!
Of course, one would need to cry in the dock a lot to be convincing!
A "frightened and naïve" drug dealer was caught up in a war marked by "stabbings and shootings", a court heard today. Anthony Jones, 47, was forced to let others drop off packages of cocaine and heroin at his home.
He admitted being in possession of both drugs with intent to supply and other offenses at his Llandudno flat. But a judge said he was acting under the influence of others and spared him jail, giving him a two-year sentence suspended for two years.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard police executed a search warrant on Jones' home in Bodhyfryd Road in the town in October 2021. Prosecutor David Mainstone said two officers found drugs worth a total of £1,890, scales, Clingfilm, and £30 in cash.
They also found a handwritten letter, supposedly penned the day before the raid, in which Jones claimed to be bullied into supplying heroin and cocaine. He told an individual it had to stop but wasn't sure how that person would react.
Mr. Mainstone also said that a mobile phone was seized and messages analyzed. But he said: "There's no sense he was being threatened in the text messages."
After being arrested, the defendant told police he met a man in a club in Llandudno and he came back to Jones' flat to stay overnight. After that, a man came to his flat about six times to deliver drugs including the night before the search warrant was executed.
Some were stored in his fridge. Jones said he was threatened with being stabbed with a knife and was too scared to go to the police.
He only supplied the drugs for a few weeks. Elen Owen, defending, said her client was open and honest with the police.
He told them where the drugs were and what his phone's PIN was. She said: "Mr. Jones has been extremely naïve and stupid. A man of 47, he really should have known better but he was genuinely frightened."
She said extremely violent individuals can force vulnerable people to do their bidding in these drug wars and "we have recently seen sadly stabbings and fatal shootings".
Jones, now of Dundonald Street, Cale Green, Stockport, pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine to another, supplying heroin to another, possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and possessing heroin with intent to supply. The judge Her Honour Nicola Saffman told the defendant he was being bullied into supplying drugs.
She said: "You were being told where to go, who to meet, and exactly what to do by those who were controlling you. You had no expectation of significant financial reward.
"I am satisfied that you are a person capable of rehabilitation. You have not offended since these offenses and you are now clean from drugs."
The judge gave Jones the 24-month sentence, suspended for 24 months, on each count and all the terms will run concurrently. She also ordered him to do 30 days of rehabilitation activity and 150 hours of unpaid work.
He must pay £250 towards costs and a £156 surcharge. The drugs and paraphernalia will be forfeited and destroyed.
