A father-of-two who took the law into his own hands by running the criminals who targeted his home off the road was jailed - while the pair avoided a prison sentence.
The two men are now suing electrician Adam White, 34, after he chased them in his Mercedes 4x4 as they tried to evade him following the attempted burglary in Leighton Buzzard, Beds, in September 2019.
Mr White was jailed in February for 22 months at Luton Crown Court for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Mr Paul and Mr Benford were given suspended sentences and 200 hours of community service at the same court for the attempted burglary in Leighton Buzzard, Beds, in September 2019.
The pair have a raft of previous convictions for offenses such as possession of an offensive weapon, theft, dangerous driving, criminal damage, shoplifting and drug dealing.
Minutes after the collision, police received a 999 call reporting a devastating crash involving Mr White's car and the getaway bike.
In police body-worn footage, Mr White, who had no convictions before the incident, asks the officer arresting him: 'Am I in trouble? I'm not going to prison for this am I?'
The controversial case features in Two Wrongs, the latest episode of 24 Hours In Police Custody, which aired last night on Channel 4.
