I love the way Autism is used as an excuse for bad behavior! And the fines should have been much higher!
A MAN who spat at a train was having a "meltdown" after getting on the wrong service, a court heard.
Christopher Michael Jones, of Bagillt Road in Greenfield, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The 36-year-old admitted that on April 4, whilst upon the railway at Conwy Station in Rosemary Lane, Conwy, he behaved in a disorderly, indecent, or offensive manner.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant boarded the wrong train and after a confrontation, he got off and spat at the train.
In mitigation, the court heard the defendant has autism and had a "meltdown" at the station, described as being "completely overwhelmed" by the situation and experiencing a loss of control.
The court heard he had asked a guard how he could get back to Flint, to which he was told: "If you walk 45 minutes that way, you'll get there."
Jones "took exception" to that, with the guard responding: "What do you want me to do, son? I'm not your dad."
He had committed no offenses since the incident, the court heard.
District Judge Paul Conlon handed down a £40 fine, as well as ordering him to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
